Description

SUMMARY:

4NE1 Gen 4 is NEURA Robotics’ next-generation full-size cognitive humanoid robot, developed, built, and trained entirely in Germany. Standing 180 cm tall and weighing 65 kg (20% lighter than the predecessor), it features a sleek black textile skin, upgraded dexterous hands with five fingers each, and limb-level reflexes for precise, adaptive movement.

4NE1 Gen 4 runs on NEURON AI — a multimodal Physical AI foundation model that enables true 3D vision, force/touch sensing, audio perception, and memory-based learning — all running locally on the robot. It supports high-precision manipulation (20 kg payload), safe human collaboration, and industrial/logistics workflows, with optional wheeled or extended-reach variants.

The robot was unveiled on October 22, 2026, alongside the €17 million TUM RoboGym training facility at Munich Airport’s LabCampus. It is already deployed internally and is being prepared for series production, targeting manufacturing, logistics, and home assistance.

EDITORIAL:

4NE1 Gen 4 marks NEURA Robotics’ next major step in Europe’s cognitive-robotics leadership — a true “New Body, New Brain” evolution that shifts from the earlier 4NE1 generations toward a friendlier, lighter, and far more capable platform. Unlike pure industrial tools (such as AEON’s factory-precision focus or Unitree’s dynamic protection emphasis), 4NE1 Gen 4 is explicitly engineered for embodied intelligence: the robot doesn’t just perform tasks — it perceives, feels, hears, and remembers in real time.

Its textile exterior and “Smart Limbs” reflexes make it approachable for human-robot collaboration in unstructured environments, while the local NEURON AI stack positions it as a bridge between traditional automation and true Physical AI. The simultaneous launch of the TUM RoboGym — a 2,300 m² training hub with 48 cells and ~100 robots — is a milestone, creating a controlled environment to gather real-world interaction data for continued skill-sharing across fleets via Neuraverse.

4NE1 Gen 4 is not a consumer toy; it is a purpose-built cognitive teammate ready for series production and real deployments. Its lighter weight, advanced perception, and safe-by-design philosophy reflect a broader industry move: humanoids are evolving from repetitive workers into learning collaborators that can adapt on the fly.
